Executive Director
Mrs. Faijay B.D Vanyan is the Executive Director of Women Aid Liberia (WAL). Mrs. Vanyan is a dedicated and passionate advocate for women's rights and empowerment. She has dedicated much of life to advocating for gender economic justice, equality in the work place, rights and social for all women, irrespective of race, sex, and religion. With strong background in women’s rights advocacy, Mrs. Vanyan has expressed compassion about women and girls’ education and career advancement. Mrs. Vanyan has also devoted much of her time and resources to women and girls’ sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHRs) advocacy. She has initiated an adolescent girls’ access to sanitary pads in school program in an attempt to reduce adolescent girls’ dropout rates from school. Adolescent girls receiving their menses would very often stay away from for at least four to five days due to fear of menstrual flow related stigmas and discriminations. Through her campus initiatives for adolescent girls menstrual health and hygiene management program code named “Be Sure No Girls is Left Behind”, Mrs. Vanyan and her team have been combating adolescent girls high drop-out rates from school by implementing community dialogues to break silence for menstrual health and hygiene and by establishing campus based sanitary banks on several primary, junior and senior high school campuses in Grand Bassa County, South-Western Liberia, West Africa. Mrs. Vanayn is an experienced social change advocate and social change enterprise manager, who has social norms transformation at the core of her dreams.
Program Officer
Miss Sayda Wheagar is the Program Officer for Women Aid Liberia (WAL). Ms. Wheagar is a devoted civil society activist and a leading women’s rights campaigner. She has worked with several national and international nongovernmental organizations as a development practitioner. Ms. Wheagar’s experience in the field women’s rights activism and community development, coupled with her passion for women and girls empowerment, have compelled her to continuously remained engaged in women’s rights advocacy and grassroots social enterprise management. Since she joined our team at Women Aid Liberia in 2024, Ms. Wheagar has played a pivotal role aim at fostering women’s rights advancement in the areas of gender equity, social-economic empowerment, and gender economic justice. Ms. Wheagar is team player who is always willing work in collaboration with team members to plan, design, and implementing women and youth focused projects and programs that have transformed the lives of hundreds of women and youths in Grand Bassa County-Liberia, West Africa.
MERL Officer
Mr. J. Michael Flama is the monitoring, evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) Officer at Women Aid Liberia. J.Michael Flama plays a critical role in developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems to track the progress and impact of the team's initiatives. He also leads efforts to integrate learning into the organization's practices and decision-making processes.
Field Supervisor
Winnifred K. Sayon, in her role as Field Supervisor, leads our field operations by directing staff, supervising project execution, and monitoring compliance with operational standards. Her leadership ensures that field projects run smoothly and efficiently.
